Is anyone aware of a site similar to 3d.sk, but NOT 3d.sk. I used to subscribe to that site, but I'm not a big fan of their work. As a former photographer, I'm bothered by the way they produce their content. I've seen some pics of them at work, and they're working in a small space, very close to the model; which requires using a fairly wide lens. This introduces strong perspective in their photos, which is the last thing you want when working in orthgraphic front and side views. Their content should be shot from a distance with a long lens, to flatten out the perspective.

The other issue I have (and I know I'm not the only one) is that their models look like people who just wandered in off the street, not professional models. I'm wanting to build a model of a very attractive woman; like, super model attractive. None of their photo sets are of women who are even remotely in that catagory.

Also, for skin textures, their lighting isn't nearly flat enough. Instead of using big soft boxes off to the side (which produces directional lighting), they should be using ring lights mounted on the lens.

So, if anyone knows of any sites out there with content produced specifically for 3D character artists, using professional models, and shot with the above considerations, I'd sure like to know.

Thanks.

BTW, I looked through the "Blueprints and other Resources" sticky but didn't find anything.

While I agree... and i'm a photographer as well, i think you're asking too much. Your ideal woman may not exist. Its best to just extrapolate or find the girl you want to make, and ask her to model.

I agree the selection at 3D.SK is rather slim for perfection. I used to subscribe there as well. They do have a few models worth having as reference but ultimately i canceled my sub there a while ago.

Your best bet is, learn anatomy inside and out, and get a victoria secrets catalogue, and some high quality porn. I'm dead serious. If you want models... there you go. Use actual professional models in their underwear and extrapolate.

That is the GOOD THING about 3d.sk, not a downside. Although they do have some highly attractive people, male and female, the best part of the site is no glamourous touchups.
