i thought these water photographs made some good references.

surfing is one sport i enjoy spectating. now that i'm getting more into animation aps.
(as opposed to 3D for engineering), it's hard to look at a picture like this without thinking about how to materials, lighting, etc.

Indonesia sunset. the choppy water in the foreground looks like a texture i threw out yesterday. interesting how the lighting etc. make it look like a really rough bump map.

i guess that's about 25-30 feet on the face. waves coming from the NW. i think this picture is at Sunset Beach.

i like this picture because it shows the boils. i'm not sure what is causing the turbulence in the foreground, it's usually rocks close to the surface.
