View Full Version : Simpson modeling help using subdivs pls
Syh4v35 10-16-2008, 06:11 AM Hi Folks,
I'm stuck modeling the face of the simpson using subdivs. I'm not very sure how to workout the eyes, nose and mouths using the subdiv surface instead of modelling out separate parts. Would this be possible?

so far I manage to shape the mouth adding more edge through split polygon and using select edge and pulling it out. But it looks really weird at the sides. I'm not sure how to adjust that point as I dont have much control.

I cant seems to pull out and shape round nose of the model using vertex points on the subdivs. I'm lacking control somehow. Anyone can help me on this pls?

Cartoon character or not, your edgeloops have to flow around the characters features...
Not a hardedge guide, more an example, but you get the idea.

I feel you should study the very basics intently before proceeding. You will find an excellent resource for this purpose HERE (http://www.lightwiki.com/Fundamentals_of_Subpatch_Modeling_Part_Two)
I don't think you will progress much further without;at least a basic applicable knowledge of the fundamentals of sub-D modeling.
But,believe me,once you do you'll see a huge improvement in the quality of your geometry.
Ps-it dosn't matter which app you're using. the core tools and principles are relevent regardless.

Thanks for the reference. It would be good for future modelling. I completed the simpsons model project which I practically stuck parts(eyes/nose/ears) into the head. Not perfectly done but good enough for me as of now. Somehow, I think I lack skills like drawing and dissecting object.
