Hello CGsociety Folks!
I am starting a WIP thread for my senior thesis animation tentatively titled "Go Skateboarding". A few of my friends and I are pooling our talents to make a short film before we graduate and we want to start posting progress on CGsociety to get input. And we love input!
We have made good progress on the short thus far and we are now at the beginning of the animation phase. Here is the story:
A young skateboarder struggles to land a difficult trick, wrecking over and over. In his lowest moment of defeat, his skateboard comes to life (as a tenacious puppy-like creature) and gives him new inspiration to land the trick and remember why he loved to skate. Together the skateboard and the kid land the trick, but in doing so the skateboard breaks and is killed.
I know this sounds horribly depressing, but after the credits, the kid duct tapes the skateboard back together and they hobble away happily! Hooray!
Right now, we have the boy, Arjay, and the skateboard modeled and rigged. The film has been storyboarded and timed out (a little over 2 minutes in length). Right now we are texturing and starting animation. The story is contained in a cargo loading bay, so there is only one environment.
Over the next week (and coming weeks!) we will be posting progress on all fronts: modeling, rigging, texturing, animating, and overall look and feel. Any critique and input is most welcome!
