Hi everybody, I was just wondering why cant you delete faces in Wings. or at least i am not being able, also is there a plug in or a way to connect Edges, and build a face between to edges like you would do in Maya with the Append to Polygon Tool????

I hope someone can help me. thanx in advance

Here's the short version of it:

Wings uses the winged-edge data structure (WE) internally. The WE can only represent a well-ordered polygon mesh where each edge has one face on each side of it. This means that it isn't likely that we'll be able to delete polygons in Wings in the near future.

But if you assign the _hole_ material to a face it won't get exported thus creating a hole in the exported model.

Can't help you with the Maya thing 'cos I haven't used Maya

Thanx Jide, thanx a bit of a shame, or at least it might be cuz im used to work with programs where you are able to delete faces like Maya and XSI, and i know same with max and Lightwave, i feel its a limitant cuz I was trying to model something and came to a point where i couldnt think of how to do it with out deleting a face and conecting some edges, and i exported it to maya and solved it very easy, but i guess its just that i dont know wings as well as maya.

Thinking in Wings way is like thinking in solids. You can't do lone faces (altough you can do *very* slim boxes :D), because it is an organic modeler. Play with it a bit, and if you catch the style, you cannot resist to wings3d :)

You can't delete faces but you can delete edges. You can also select two or more faces and use the disolve tool to combine them. Then rebuild them any way you want so for the situation you described there's no need to delete the faces. :o)
