Hi Folks,

I'm having problem with merging the two surfaces(one nurb and subdiv). I tried to convert the nurb surface to subdiv and attach them, but the subdivision and vertex points for both surface are different. Thus, Snap-to-point doesnt work well for me.

Anyone able to help me solve a work around this?

Syh4v35,
I'm having a similar problem. I have about 25 nurbs (cylinder) surfaces grouped together and aligned properly in the outliner, but can't sort out how to merge or combine them down into one object. Maya crashes often and I think it's because I have duplicated those 25 surfaces about 15 times in my mission to make a fluffy white dandelion. However I'm going to need to duplicate this group about 30 more times to complete the model, and then bend the stem, and animate, etc. I've tried converting nurbs to polygons, and then merging vertices but to no avail.

Let me know if you find a solution.

Is it possible to add more vertex points to subdivs?

Yes... I figureout how to add more vertices. Changing subdiv to polygon mode and using split polygon to add more points. :)

Hi,

About attaching nurbs to sub-d. You have to conver them both to polygons and then combine them and after you have done that you can merge vertexes. One surface can be made of only nurbs or only polys or only sub-d( polys smoothed 3 times). So that when u attach those 2 object they will be either nurbs, poly or sub-d. If u want to sub-d them make sure to delete faces which are from the inside if u have them when u merge verts.

Hope it helps .

Use proxy then you can switch back and forth between subd and poly or use poly then smooth and in the smooth node just change the levels to view with/without smooth detail.
