View Full Version : type in a value to move a vert
sean3dmonkey 10-13-2008, 04:46 PM Sometimes when I'm modeling half a character I will see that some verts are no longer aligned to the X axis. Is there a way to select th evert a type 0 in the translate X axis to move the vert back to the X axis and still keep the positiona in the Y and Z axis. That is to say the vert will only move in the X axis and not move in the Y and Z axis.
In 3Ds Max I can select the vert and type ) in the X axis and the vert will only move in that axis.

Select the vertex and snap it into position using the x axis arrow on the move manipulator. You can press v and move it to snap it to a vertex or press x and snap it to a grid line. Seems a lot faster than typing to me.
If you have multiple verts needing to be moved you can double click on the move tool (should be in the left hand side column) and turn off keep component spacing in the tool options. You can then select and snap the vertices to where you need them and they all collapse to the proper location on axis. Saves a ton of time. Wish I knew of it from the very start...
