Does anyone know where I could find an iff image importer for after effect?

Thanks!

is it absolutely crucial to use iff file types.

are you just imorting your images to but all together in an animation or something.

I rendered a iff sequence, then I tried to open in after effects. Does not work at all. I tried to convert these files in acdsee and I can't convert them to a different format. What converter can I use to change my sequence's format?

Thanks!

Why not just render it again as a .tif or .tga file?

You could use Fcheck to resave them

AE 5.5 reads iff nativly. Maybe you didn't install all the optional installs.

yeah, but be aware that zDepth won't be available in afterEffects when using .iff!

if you don't need it fine, but if you do i'd recommend re-rendering .rla!

I agree with lricho and the MayaGuy. just open them up in Fcheck then save as in .tif or .tga or if your lazy just click render and sit back for a while. its up to you ofcourse

Maya comes with a command line image file converter called imgcvt

Start > Run. Type cmd. Click OK. At the console type imgcvt -h for the helpfile.

I can't stand trying to convert long animations with fcheck... I usually don't have enough ram.

this only applies for linux! the appropriate shell-command for windows would be:

imconvert -h

:)

hah, both seem to work for me(WinXP console)... imconvert seems to be more abundant in features with filters and stuff. Ill have to check it out myself.

Also my AFX 5.5 can read .iff files from the native Maya renderer but not .iff from the mental ray renderer...(maya 5.0)

That is true perpen, it's a mental ray render so it can not open in AE 5.5. Am going to trie imconvert -h. This thread has been very helpfull thanks guys! :bounce:

is there any solution for this MR problem? i've rendered a long image seqence in mental ray and can't import that..what is the problem with the meantal ray batch renderer? if i save the iff form the normal rendering view i can import it into after affects....
