Does anyone knows how to create the ray of light effect previously found on www.rayoflight.net?

the effect's pretty much like this

If you want it 2D and animated, Paintshop Pro's animation shop may be the ticket. It has a bunch of text effects and thats one of them. I know it will make an animated .gif, but not sure what other types of files it creates.

If you are trying to get the effect in 3d, apply a volume light effect in the enviroment panel.

If you want the light to "break" around objects and cast cool patterns(think of beams of light from a cloud), make sure your light is casting shadows.

i was thinking of doing it in 3ds. anyway, thanks guys. 3dz, thanks for answering couple of my ques. ask u if i still have doubt. cheers!
