View Full Version : The Skave (Modeling&Texturing) Reel
Sanchopi 10-12-2008, 05:55 PM Hey guys
I want to share my demoreel with you. It's a model of a skave out of the warhammer universe. This is a turmtable animation and the camera flys around the model.
I made this for my studie in germany. That's my first project ever, all kind of critique is welcome ...

Good job. A couple of comments.
First of all. It took forever to download even though I have a fast connection. For whatever the reason I suggest you post a lower res version or post it on Vimeo so more people can watch it.
It was too long. 3 min for one character I think it's too much. It gets repetitive really fast.
The modeling looks pretty good. Awesome work on the metal parts. Very good texturing and the shader looks right.
On the other hand the organic parts, the wood and the leather need more work. They are pretty close but not quite there. They seem very much like plastic now.
The cloth and the banner look pretty good, I like them.
For the wireframes I suggest you do it shorter. Just one pass with wireframes for the entire character, not piece by piece.
In general I think it's very good but you need to make it more watchable with all the things mentioned above.
Hope this helps.
Cheers and best of luck.

Hi David-J
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. The wood is horror you'r right, had not enough time to experiment with (the bumpmap looks strange I think).
The downloadspeed shoud be fast. I tried it, and downloaded with ~340kbs ...
Anyway thanks for the tip with Vimeo :)
