amazing work you have in your website too!! You seem to master everything, oil, pencils, 3d, animation..very, very nice, your work is very inspirational. no room for improvement you seem to allow.
muy buen trabajo, ojala mi critica fuera mas informativa que eso, pero para eso tengo que llegar a tu altura

Almost 5 million polies? wow! Looks nice. Although i cant put my finger on it, something looks "off" Maybe some shadows in some places. Like the screen where it has the little fountain.
Looks great though, nice web site BTW.

Hi folks,
thanks for your input and kind words :)
eMPeck: software I have used is mainly ElectricImage Universe (and TreePRO for tree modeling).
McSpirit: yes, tree and bonsai are exactly the same model (bonsai equal to tree x 0.1)
Altermind: apart from some procedural shaders, the 90% of my texture work is done in Photoshop. Check the Apple Texturing (http://www.etereaestudios.com/docs_html/fruits_htm/fruits_making_off_index.htm) from other of my works to see how I build my textures. Apart from this I use a postproduction technique that you can find explained HERE (http://www.etereaestudios.com/docs_html/breakfast_11.htm)
Thanks and best regards.

superb work here.
I'd be interested to know how you find Electric Image to be. If you have used any other software.
Also, how long did those renders take? I would love to see an animation of the camera flying through that beautiful garden. This is front page material IMO.

That is some wicked great organic elements. I also love the color tones and lighting. The mode these scenes set with their suttle colors and rough textures.
Keep stuff like this up.

Hi folks, thanks again for your kind words and comments.
Kiaran, ElectricImage is a great apply for some things and bad for others:
- One of best for working with millions of polys, large and big number of textures (300 MB each and more), perfect control over thousands of groups and super speed render with good quality.
- Bad for character animation, poor integration between modeler and animator...
Anyway I feel confortable working with it (from years), though I constantly look at other possibilities (Maya?)
Render time (in a MacG4 733 mHz):
5 millions polys + 5000 pixels wide + PHONG reflection-maps = 15 minutes (yes, and result is very near to final images: Phong render in Universe is superb)
5 millions polys + 5000 pixels wide + RAYTRACING reflections = 4 to 12 hours (depending from POV)
And yes, I want to make an animation+music with this stuff. Don't worry I make a call here when it is done.
Thanks and best regards to all.

Simply awesome. Reminds me of the "scenario" where Neo and Morpheus fight in The Matrix.
I've always liked those japanese-style rooms. Good job :applause:

Stunning! This warmth of the illumination. The colors are amazing as well as the textures.
I also was on your websites and I must say that your are doing a great job, really. The images of the ants were most fascinating.
