View Full Version : Texture Streching issues
kriscabrera 10-12-2008, 11:19 AM what up guys am working on some test render for my environment i am having a problem with the texture in which it is stretching. My texture sheet is 4000x4000 very high rez and no matter how much i tile it, it still seems to stretch i cant get a crisp render. I attached an image on here so you can have a better idea. Its just a plane with a uvwmap modifier basically flat. maybe you guys have any clues that could help me thank a bunch

It's hard to judge what the problem is without seeing the actual texture map. Okay, so the map is 4k, but how crisp are the details actually within it? In this render, you're getting extremely close to it - exactly how much of the texture sheet is visible here? Remember that if you go beyond a 1:1 pixel ratio in a render, your map is going to look blurry, because you're essentially zooming into it.

i was trying to post my sheet but i cant get it to a descent size i could send it by email if you wanna see it but its pretty detailed up close. it might be because am to close to it or maybe the 1:1 aspect ratio how do i get around that? should i zoom out some more or change the aspect ration?
i appreciate the help.

Simply don't go beyond a 1:1 ratio, so that you never zoom into the texture beyond that ratio. Changing the aspect ratio won't make a difference, you're simply too close. If you need to get closer to the texture, then you need a bigger texture - or, simply create a new texture just for the part that gets close to camera, ensuring that the details will be crisp when this close.
