View Full Version : 3D layers are corrupting?

Hello,

I have this 3D hallway with a bunch of picture frames on the walls. I exported my maya camera and locators so that I can match the move easily.

For some reason after I've replaced the video with the null objects, after about 6 videos are replaced, the video starts to corrupt. When I render or add any more video, the movies stop playing and get frozen on one frame.

Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm running a mac pro with after effects cs3, 5 gigs of ram and octo core. If I check the source, the video runs fine by itself. If I check the 3D layer on its own, it is corrupt.

Thanks in advance.

What's the source CoDec of the videos? Some of them refuse to work if used multiple times in the same project because they attempt to use the same memory address space over and over again.... Or maybe your graphics card is just low on VRAM and OpenGL breaks down?

well originally the source codec was Avid but I converted them to .mov with Animation compression.

I'm using the file of type several times but never is one video used more than once. I have a 7300 nvidia.

Thanks for the suggestion, I replaced all the video with a 2 min video that was originally created with Animation codec. No issues. Soon as I replaced it with the video that had an "Avid" codec.......freeze frame again.

Crap, these editors don't listen. I keep telling them what codec to use.

BTW, is there a way to release the original codec so that I can use this video without having to wait 2 or 3 days for the editors to redo this?

Thank you

Mmh, We have no problems with Avid CoDecs, not references or self-contained movies. We're mostly using "Uncompressed" 1:1 or 3:1 for SD stuff and DVC and DNx for what little HD we do. Is your editor not properly "flattening" the movie perhaps? It is recommended to always render all effects manually as the Export function is flakey and doesn't always do this. laos for complex timelines it may be advisable to use a mixdown clip in place of the original timeline...
