View Full Version : Object Shatter Collision help/advice

Hey,

Some thoughts on a project Im working on to develop my skills within the dynamics field. I basicly got a coffee cup which I have used the legendary build in maya shatter tool to break into smaller pieces. The shattered object is just a test to see how well the simulation will work so nevermind the size or geometry of the objects.

My question is what is the best method to collide my shatterd object with a groundplane? rigid bodies, nCloth? Also even if I have a dummy object or so, and switch to the dynamic a frame or before collision how do I avoid simulation problem with the geometry intersecting and colliding with eachother is there a way? since I want the the minor shatterd object colliding after first touchdown with the groundplane.

Or should I just make all the objects collide with the groundplane(-1 layer) and not eachother to save myself alot of trouble?
