Title: AmalgaMATE II
Name: Michael Oswald
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop
Yes, everyone, it is all 2D.
Photoshop creation with some very careful smudging and blurring. Model MOSH, whom I had a photoshoot with last year.
I originally decided to hold this image exclusively for my art book but I couldn't resist uploading it online. I am now very glad I did because the directors at Imagine Publishing saw it and asked to use it for the cover of their Nov. Issue

If it's really 2d, you got a master piece.

Michaelo: hello man, nice work on paint, postproduction, stiling etc. but can you post source photography? because i think some people think it is all painting. Im working on the same field (fashion photography with cg additions), and it is my expirience that it is better to post sources to make people less confused.

Great image! Regardless of whether or not this is work over a photo, the texturing on the arms and legs is fantastic. They really look like plastic plates. The hands are especially cool. Great execution!

This my help some of you understand my work. My style is, as I say, photo manipulation on steroids, incorporating many photo editing techniques as well as painting right over the photo. I get a lot of flack for my technique as you can imagine and it is quite rare that the CGSociety judges accept my work into the forum. My view is, of the thousands who have told me how much my work inspires them, I must be doing something right. Isn't that what art is all about?

Dont get me wrong man, i dont want to complain and it is not about technique. What matters is result, and your result is great. This is kinda wierd thing. Here is only 2d sides of forums ...2d and 3d. I think it is about time to create also separate forums for mixed media and things like this. I have hard time to fit my fashion visuals in right gallery myself. People always coming up with things like "but this is foto, its not full 3d" etc. Some people forgetting that creative artistic work is not about used media. So thats reason why i ask you to post source photo.

You've managed to enhance the models already magnificent beauty, and created something beyond photography which is briiliant. The argument most folk have against using photos is that they're manipulated to make something that can at best only match the photograph, so what's the point. What you do is quite different. In this wonderful work the photo is mere Tly another tool. Great work.
