View Full Version : WIP: stork
grstovell 06-09-2003, 05:33 AM well... let me share some good news... We're having a baby!!!:bounce: :bounce:
This is for a little home movie I'm working on... cheesy, I know...
My big question: Has anyone ever used feathers on a model?
Is there an easier way than to model, place, model, place, etc, etc, etc???
any help would be greatly appreciated!

Congratulations :)
as for feathers... you could try using ditools dicloner to clone a feather all over the surface of the body, or if you have shave & haricut then you can use that to do the job (though i've never tried so i wouldn't know how it would work).
Congratulations :)
I think feathers wouldn´t suit the model - keep it plain and stylized. Leaves more time for the baby too ;)

THANKS!!!!
(and yes... I am an old man! )
I did stay up last night trying several feather techniques and ended up with an interesting result using particles... I'll post it as soon as I get home.
Now for question# 2... Anyone ever done a pair of wings that actually fold and flap?

thanks... I'll check out that link as soon as I get back home...
Here's the feathered version... hmm... not sure I love it. Any suggestions?
a) Try for a different feather technique?
b) leave it without feathers
c) these feathers are good but with good transparency and bump maps
d) Just go for a 'feather' bump map...
what do you think?

I have seen pupi using what looks to be a bump map.
go to renderosity and search the artists gallery's for the name pupi. He has some amazing pics.
Also pupi used hair department as well. I think I may have posted a link to this in the tutorials subforum.
But am not sure about this, any way search renderosity you should find it pretty quickly.

opening setting...
"baby pick-up"
not sure about the wings... I may attach them to the body and make it a single mesh...
What do you think? Does the lighting match the background?

what did you use for clouds dude? those look ace. anyway I am not so sure that the lighting matches. also the styles are photo real and cartoon. which don't mix too well.
anyway not bad but work on the textures, and work on them alot.
slilly me those are obviously photo clouds I tricked myself into thinking that they were 3D.
