has some nice Star-Wars related tutorials, however the concepts that are presented are universal aswell, so you don't need to be doing lightsabers to appreciate it.

Twas the springboard into the pool of AE.

Enjoy.

Hehe, thats another board I lurk around... I made a tutorial specially for SW Fan-film makers, but I guess I could share the knowledge here too! I just wish someone that takes this tutorial would actually show me the results, as I have NO evidence that anyone has used it and cannot edit or rectify anything in it to make it more simple.
Anyway, if you take it, I'd really appreciate it if I could get your comments! :)

My Statue to Human Tutorial (its in a thread over at TFN, but hey) (http://boards.theforce.net/message.asp?topic=9651217)

My FX Site (go to the tutorial section) (http://www.aaronfxsite.mirrorz.com)

On my FX site, I have the statue to human tutorial there, but the making an image into a statue isn't a good method, but it sure as heck is in the TFN thread (the first link)!!!

I dont think that statues are even popular on TFN, considering it is completely irrelevant to Star Wars. Plus I check posts almost daily. :buttrock:

Running out of memory is a common prob with AE, it's memory management isnt the greatest. To help solve those memory problems that changing your cache sizes just won't solve Adobe have put a 'secret' prefs option in the package. Hold down the shift key while you select edit->preferences->general and then release (mouse button first). You should then see a 'secret' option at the bottom of the list of your usual ones in the prefs window which lets you purge RAM at a set frame interval and other such things (layer cache on/off too). This will slow down rendering, but at least it will. Make sure the interval is reasonable, otherwise it makes no difference, every frame purging won't *shrug*, But every 25 frames or 30 frames seems to work well enough.

is their a tutorial for repairing a corrupt ae project file?

Not that I know of - but one trick I use ALL the time is reopening the file with my capslock key on. This stops AE from processing the file - allows me to change parameters or take off buggy effects and resave my file.

Works 98% of the time.

Hope that helps!

I've got a number of 'workflow' video tutorials on my blog that some folks might be interested in...

shisko.blogspot.com

They touch upon not just AE but many of the tools that I use in the course of my work. I should mention that these are not intended to be 'tutorials' per se, but more as workflow guides: they assume a certain knowledge of AE and aren't designed to be 'follow along' tut's. Those take way too much time to properly design :)

ok my english is very bad so sorry.

i have been now looking on this forum for 20 minutes to find two tutorials.
1. to change colours. for example to change in a video the hair color or the jacket color.
2. i have a footage of a guy walking. i want to cut the guy out of the footage and remove the background.

if you dont have the tutorials can you at least tell me what words should i use on google to search? i think rotoscope is one of the words right?

thank you all for your help.

scrimski
02-21-2007, 12:25 PM
Search for 'rotoscoping' either with google or here in the forum, though I don't think you will find any step-by-step tutorial for roto'ing as it is quite simple, but tedious and boring.
to change colours. for example to change in a video the hair color or the jacket color.
Duplicate the layer, roto the parts out you want to adjust and apply a hue/saturation filter to it.

I'd like to invite everyone to visit my new website with free video tutorials on adobe most commonly used applications: After Effects, Photoshop, Premiere and Audition.

my tutorials are not only about creating cool looking motion graphics, but mostly about using expressions, parenting, scripting and other cool techniques used very raely by most of motion graphics and vfx artists.

each tutorial (besides the main focus) contains usefull tips that will improve your workflow or maybe even shorten your render times.

make sure to take a look.
http://maltaannon.com/

leave a feedback in the comments area if you like. no registration required.

i have already recorded some of the future tutorials, but i'm still editing them, and i have almost 20 wating in line to be recorded.

i hope you'll like them.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to post in here, since I finally gathered all my video tutorials into one place on my website. Almost all of them are for After Effects, but there's a couple 3dsMax ones in there.

Maybe they won't help everyone, but, whatever, they're there if you need them. :)

I'd like to take this oppurtunity to promote AURELLIA (http://forums.cgsociety.org/www.aurellia.net). We made it back in november, but as most sites, it takes a while until it really kicks off. We're getting a solid some-500 views per day, and we also get a lot of good response.

The site is a free resource for tutorials for After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and 3ds Max. We're also expanding to blender soon, and we got some animators looking to help us out with XSI. We're creating a quite extensive database for tutorials, in other words.

However, there's more to it. We're also offering(soon) free stock footage, pre-matted. We'll also launch some products soon with basic training for all the apps we use in our tutorials, aswell as stock footage DVD's for prices you won't find anywhere else ;)

Hope y'all find it useful :)

Hey all,

I've started up a new 2D VFX tutorial site that focuses on After Effects and Fusion. It's called http://vfxhaiku.com/

I'm hoping with these tutorials, that I'll be able to bring some of the esoteric concepts of working in high end visual effects down to earth. Give it a look, and let me know what you think!

I came up with this eye replacement technique five years ago. I realize replacing a subjects eyes has been done before, but this is for more advanced movements in your actor(s) The texturing has also been done with camera stabilization. These techniques are for advanced motion tracking. No stabilizing the actors and adding a zoom like you may have seen in a video copilot tutorial.

Anyone can follow along, novice - advanced. If you are not familiar with Imagineer systems Mocha for AE, or Mocha Pro, I explain everything in both videos. Anyone that has a working copy of After Effects CS4 and up, has a version of Mocha for AE in their adobe after effects folder.
