It looks like I'll buy that one!

That format is a bit expensive but looks great. let's just hope the shipping costs don't add too much to the price.

Congratulations for the hard work!

Hi all,

thank's. For the shipping cost, I'm looking for the best solution. Some country is very expensive, like Bulgaria, Lituania, Ghana, Somalia, Russia, Tanzania etc...Other "less" expensive, like France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Netherlands. Sorry, but the shipping cost, in this day (gasoline) is very expensive and i can't to do nothing. Try to send with DHL or UPS 3.5 Kg and see the price.

The "problem" ;) is that this book is very very BIG and heavy! It's not like a classic manual. It's 3.2 Kg, 21x30 (A4) and 1.000 page. It's like a BIBLE, and this is why this price. Try to compare with italian MR book:

http://www.educational.am4.it/Pagine/Catalogo/Scheda.asp?Libro=3

It's 600 page (not 1030)
It's 17cm x 24cm ( not 21cm x30cm)
No DVD
Price is 80 euro (not 120)
But, if you have if you have a few minutes, read some Feedback (http://www.treddi.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=59502)

Bye :)

I assume it is much more expensive to ship in the USA..
Will there be a digital format available in the future???

Hi,

for the digital format, i think no, only real book. For the USA, SUD AMERICA, ASIA i'm trying to get the lowest price possible. But the cost are: book + shipping cost + Air Fuel Surcharge (see DHL (http://www.dhl-usa.com/CustServ/FuelSurcharge.asp?nav=FindServInfo/FuelSrchg)) + transition cost (like Paypal). That's it. It's "simply" :) . For UE there are no big problem, becouse the shipping cost is not so high.

bye :)

cecofulithat said, even if the price may be high for my budget, It looks like a must-have for me. A good printed reference book is always welcome, and it is much more enjoyable to read something in a beautiful format like that.

I'm quite excited about this actually, as I love vray and even if I know quite a bit about it, I also know I'll learn a lot of little things and techniques that will make my renders even better! (and I love nice big coloured books! :))

I can't wait!

Yes,

in the 2008, a big book like this is not a common product. I know that, but in my life i I bought a lots of technical manual, but no one liked me was completely. So i decide to write it by my hands :) . As I wanted, with the arguments that I knew to be useful. Initially was to be 200-300 pages, but ... you can see the conclusion.
My friends told me that was too large and that it would be difficult to deploy, in the 2008, where everything you learn with internet. But, I always loved paper and sometime, today, i read my good old 3ds max 3 book ehh...
And, final, for personal satisfaction. You can not imagine how many hours I spent writing, but... I see this monster as my son.

I hope you like my little baby and that can be useful :)

Bye

cecofuli : Well as someone who's also just had a big book released (Essential ZBrush), I can support what your saying on this. The bottomline is the larger the book the harder it is to write , compile and edit, (and thats before you get to the printing / layout stages.) So congrats to you on the release, even though Vray isn't something I use of late. Large books are a rarety these days , but are sometimes the only way to REALLY cover a subject in depth.

Thank's DarthWayne,

yes, write a book is a very difficult task for CG artist like my, like us. all work has been done by myself, becouse I wanted first all the quality control in my hand! Write book is not like a capture some videotutorial (i like very much the videotutorial and thank's for all guy that they do this). But the book is a very particular tool for learning. You can collect millions of information impossible in some hours of video.
I think with this book i cover something like 98% of tools in VRay. if I have forgotten something, I don' noticed that :) . "In-deph" is the right world for this book.

Bye :)

Hey, Just a question. Will you be explaining features light volume lighting from Vray 1.5 sp3?

Just wondering how up-to-date this guide is.

Looks great btw. I will order soon I think. I might get my company to buy it :)
Roughly how much would it cost in total to send to Brisbane Australia?

Thanks.

Hi Syndicate,

i'm beta-tester for VRay 1.5 and RT. This features (is not VRayVolumeLigh, but it's called VRayEnvironmentFog), the new VRayLight Mesh etc... are in the SP3. My book is update for VRay 1.5 SP2, but, as you can see in my personal SITE (http://francescolegrenzi.com/blog/static.php?page=Downloader), for the firts italian version (February 2008) I publish a free upgrade for SP2. So, i think that i do the same thing for SP3.

For all information, Pre-order, price, forum etc... you can see on our CG SITE. Link (http://www.treddi.com/forum/index.php?autocom=mypages&page=vray_the_guide)

Bye :)

Bon Giorno, Francesco!

I received your book yesterday afternoon. Good shipping, good packaging and overall excellent presentation.

Inmediately, I started to look over the content, sections, pics... etc and I must say that the book is much better than I expected. Impressive work, Francesco. Congratulations.

Thank you very much for this "Christmas gift", and I wish you a happy new year full of sales and success in everything you do. And of course, I will recommend this book to my colleages, mates, friends, pupils...

Thanks & congratz again, Francesco.
