Ok ive been experimenting with patch modeling in hopes of being able to model cars better :) Its working thank god.... The only thing I cant figure out is how to create sharp edges
like in a real car where the hood comes into the bumper and such

See the red marked areas

Thnx in advance

yeah well its a good question.. I would like to know the answer to that too..

only thing I could think of is convert the mesh to editable patch and giving different material ids on either side of the required hard edge.. but I am not even sure if this will work.

awhile back i started patch modeling a supra, i haven't gotten around to finishing yet but.......

ummm i'n not sure if this would help u or not b/c i'm kinda confused about your question but for each section of the car i would make a different bunch of patches to be welded, so each section (ie: door, hood ) i made seperately....lemme post a pic to show u

Separate patches and or Smoothing Groups. One could also return the patch surface under the hood like the sheet metal you are modeling.

I thought you were creating each panel as a separate patch.. well that would work well..
