I'm looking for some feedback and critiques on my character, Hellasaurus. He is 948 triangles with two texture maps, 1 512 for the skin and 1 128 for the teeth. He is pretty much done (for now, anyway). Also, I'm trying to get an entry level job in the games industry, modeling and texturing. Does this look like the work of a competant entry level artist? Thanks for any replies.

it's a good start.

i personally think that the muscle contours on the "pinkish"

parts don't really match the dinosaur.

it looks like an oversized newborn kangaroo.

but great job with the modelling, i love it.

Yea he looks a little to friendly
Try Some bigger teeth maybe, with its mouth closed they could still overlap outside his mouth.
From what I have seen from most art of dinosaurs, they only open there mouths for specefic reasons, so try closing the monsterious jaw. A darker tint to his skin might make him look a bit scarier also. Just a suggestion!

o man, the "friendly" problem isn't the teeth

it's the eyes.

they're too big and they look too... uh... not... dinoish.

it should be like a round yellow circle with a black circle

in the middle, not mostly black.

and try moving it up a bit.

that'll look fierce.

and the upper leg is killing me!

it's way too short.

The eyes do give a nice-guy appearance to the model.

it should be like a round yellow circle with a black circle

I think Dinosaurs had verticle iris' didn't they? I'm thinking they were reptiles, but I might be wrong. It's been a long time since I've seen one...
Something more than that, though, is that his upper eye lid raises a bit, while the lower one is more horizontal. If you want to give the impression of something a bit more menacing then the eye lids positioning should be the other way:

In the texturemap: the contour of skin around the corner of his mouth makes him look a bit like he's smiling. Something about the way his skin folds back.
The skin folds in general are very heavy. This gives it a really interesting look, but at the same time looks a bit odd. If it's a real Dino you should consider lessening the contrast in favor of a rougher, more general texture along the mass of his body.
If it's just a fantasty concept then it looks really interesting. I dig the map the way it is, but beacuse some might confuse it with the intention of being a real Dino model, then you may want to add something that sets it apart from other dinosaurs anatomically.
(The big teeth suggestion was a good idea).

Overall he look good. Good budget on the polys, good mapping.

Hey, thanks for the replies folks. I think I'll heed the advice given and rework the eyes and teeth, and maybe alter the color scheme a little also. I was trying for a raw, skinned flesh type look but I can see how pink isn't a very intimidating color. I suppose next time I post a character it would be wise to include the characters bio so people have a better idea of what the characters style/influences/purpose are and what I'm trying to accomplish with it. Sorry. I'm new. This guy is a Hellasurus, a dinosaur from Middle Earth/Hell. I was going for a semi realistic but stylized look. Anyway, thanks for the pointers.
