Yep, I'm all for in-C4D tools to keep the cross-talk to a minimum. I'll have to join up on this, cool.

Can someone enlighten me on how the workflow in C4D would be? At the moment you track in Syntheyes, Boujou or PFTrack or whatever and bring the cameradata to C4D.
So I guess you run your movie in your C4D scene and track it on the spot? What would be the big advantage of this apart from - probably - ease of use?

ease of use?

Yep you said it. :)

I'm even thinking as far as xref possibilities, data management. There are other tools out there you can get now, sorry the names escape me.. photomatch???

if you go to

http://www.scenespector.com

grab the demo of VoCat, your pretty much looking at what you have in Cinema,
it opens its own window in cinema you load your footage track it, you can do more with the cinema version, once happy you can setup 3d markers etc or use the tracked points, it puts everything into your viewport camera, tracks, and the video.

very simple and user friendly

Will this do 2d also?

How about tracking a 3d object from 2 views. There are a couple methods out there to track facial animation using 2 views in a 3d/2d tracking program (syntheyes, PFtrack).

If there is i'd be interested in joining beta for character animation. I can send a reel if you like?

Awesome!
But how much manual control is provided? Is it possible to track manually? Or only possible to set the tracking points manually?

Some info about pricing? Like the VooCAT license?

cheers

Congratulation's

its nice to see a tracker inside cinema!
I think mograph and postproduction people will like it.

Can you fine tune the tracking points?
I mean are there any graphs to delete "bad" tracking points
bevor calculating the camera. I liked that point at pftrack.

greetings und weiter so!

Ah, so that is what the FOSS tracker Voodoo turned into...interesting. Not sure what advantages having the tracker built into your 3d app has, but this could be a very interesting option!

I certainly will be interested in checking it out when it is released....

It saves alot of time! You don´t have to deal with converting files from other Software packages, you simply load in your Footage, track it, press insert and you have it in your editor, even the renderformat is set for you automaticly.
Hell, i´ve waitet a long time for having this.

Hi everyone,

wow, it's great to see so much interest in our plugin!

To answer a few of your questions:

CineCAT will cost about 200€-250€ once it is released.

It will be possible to select "bad" feature points and exclude them from solving a camera.

As for Photomatch I am not familiar with the product, but from the products website it seems to be mostly manual tracking (selection of feature points and search windows), CineCAT aims at being mostly automatic in this aspect.

Manual addition of points in CineCAT will be possible - 2D Features, called Locators, can be added to the scene which will result in 3D points. It is possible to only export these points into the scene if necessary, excluding any automatic points.

If you have more questions I will be happy to try to answer them ;)

Greetings

Hi! This is great news and i´m really looking forward to this. Will there be a seperate academic license? Im working as head of studies at the Motion Design & 3D-animation course at the Norwegian School of Creative Studies. We are currently about to buy a set of Synth Eyes licenses but after reading this i´m holding it off until the first reviews of VooCat come in. But, a factor for us is if there will be any discount of bulk orders, or if there is an academic license price. Cheers! :)
