Title: Prince's advertisement matte painting
Name: Marc SIMONETTI
Country: France
Software: Photoshop

Here are some of the matte paintings I've made for a french TV advertisement, made by AKAMA studio and realized by WANDA production.

I've used many personal shots as reference.

You can see the movie there:

I've made about 11 mattes in 20 days, with photoshop.

Thanks a lot.

In fact, I didn't post them bigger, because I made them all in a rush, so there's plenty of mistakes or awkward things in them...But the final size was for Pal TV screens, so it wasn't disturbing at all.

My process is pretty simple, I first establish a sky that fits the moods, then make a speed painting of the whole scene, with the correct perspective, and trying to use realistic colors. Then I just apply textures, just like in 3D, and then I just paint over it all, in order to correct things.
Approximatively, that's it. :)

I liked very much your works, and esepcially the curious fact that they are almost monochromatic: this is a very difficult thing to manage, but creates great results.

The details are good especially the mood. More importantly, it feels real. Great job!

Man this reminds me of Prince of Persia and the Dragonlance series from my youth. Looks and lighting bring it to life. How much time did you spend on detailing the main building?

Very impressive! It feels like it was a 3D render. Very realistic and creative! :applause:
