Title: Old Soldier
Name: John Henderson
Country: Australia
Software: CINEMA 4D, ZBrush
This was supposed to be a lot more finished but it was taking me so long I've decided to just finish it and move onto other projects. Maybe one day Ill come back and finish it.
The piece is meant to be of a mercenary. Old, bitter, hardened to life and somewhat insane to boot. He lives by his own code and does what he feels he needs to survive.
The base model was created in cinema 4D and then exported to zBrush for sculpting the wrinkles under the eyes and on the lips. Then back to cinema where I added textures, did the lighting etc. The renderer is cinema's default renderer.
Im not entirely happy with this image as I feel its not of a high enough standard, the skin shader, textures, and background are all unfinished. I wanted to push myself to learn to create photorealistic skin but using cinema 4d's SSS shader just wasnt giving me the results I wanted.
Im quite happy with the eyes of the model, theres still stuff I could do for them but I feel they came out well. They have a certain depth. If anyone feels like telling me what I could have done better with them feel free.
Overall as a stylised piece I think it works quite well despite not being what i originally wanted. I'd love some comments and crits on the image although Im sure that a lot of them Ill have already given myself.
