First off I'd like to say I did a forum search with words like "canvas" and "move canvas" and "move background" and didn't see a single person asking this question, (which makes me think it's super-basic even for a newb), but here goes:
After importing an object, I noticed it intersected with the background, being "cut off" by it. So I moved it towards me. Problem solved. But what if I want to keep the object stationary and move the background away from it? If I want to have a large distance between objects, I might want to move it farther back when adding "background" objects.
Bottom line: Is the canvas completely stationary? Is the only way to put distance between objects and canvas to move the objects forward?
