Hi all
I am working on maya nCloth.Actually i am applying nCloth for fast moving charecter cloths.
My charecter is slow action and fast action and it is having jumping also.
When i am applying cloth is not colliding properly, It is collapsing.
Please tell me the procesure of applying the nCloth for these type of animated charectors .
Please Help me .. Very Urgent......

I've experienced the nCloth solver working best if you have a very highly resoluted basemesh, because otherwise nCloth sometimes don't have sufficient information for satisfactory calculations.

did you try to change substep and time scale on your nucleus ?

I would try increasing the Substeps and Max Collision Iterations on the Nucleus Slover. You can also change the Collision Flag and Self Collision Flag on the nCloth obj. Increasing these settings will definitely increase simulation time but it could help.

Another option could be for the fast moving actions to double the timeline so the nCloth has more time to calculate the just speed up the render or render every other frame...could work.

Hope some of this helps.

Higher substeps and Max iterations will definitely help with the fast motion. nCloth however is a complete system. When one attribute or if one part of the pipeline is incorrect it can have a rippling effect on the entire garment. The first thing to check is the solver scale. Are you using the right scale? nCloth by default uses meters. If your character is not built in meters you need to adjust the scale. None of the other attributes will work as expected until this is done.

Hi

Thanks for your reply. But i tried by increasing substeps, max collisions.
When charector is jumping cloth is going up side, and the cloth is not looking like a cloth.
Any tips for getting realistic cloth please help.
Any other procesures do you use for creating cloth or only nCloth is enough.
And one more dought is how many days does it take to complete cloth for an 100 frames animated charector.

Plese help...

In the Nucleus solver under the Scale Attributes folder, make sure you have set the Space Scale Attribute correctly. If your geometry is huge compared to the unit size you should adjust it accordingly or your solver could think it is simulating something much bigger then it really is or smaller if your cloth object is a shirt or something and it only takes up about a unit or two.

Hope that helps.

If your cloth is collapsing and falling apart it means that force is too strong.
I would agree that scale in units of you character is very very big, and you need to change it, so try changing the scale in nucleus for a start, from 1 to for example .01, see if this helps. Do you have lots and lost of polygons on your character?
Also if they are very close together they might explode because they have no space were to go. If you check the thickness of the cloth, and if two cloth objects thickness is overlaping it might result in exploding as well.
There are presets for ncloth, have you tried using any ?
Do you have experience in using ncloth, or you are trying to use ncloth straight away to simulate character?
Try using primitives for a start and learn more about the ncloth parameters, one by one by experimenting on simple less dense objects.
I hope this helps a bit.
Have you used maya rigid bodies before?
I'm just asking this questions to know how to help better.
If you can check some of tutorials for ncloth out there.
If you can strip your character of detail or simplify your scene I can help with the scene.

Hope this helps
