Sorry for the potentially rediculous question, but I'm fairly new at this sort of thing.

I'm wanting to import a 2d image to place inside a "picture frame" i designed in a living room type scene. I know that I have to go into Hypershade and create a Texture, but I don't really know where to go for there. I've looked for some tutorials as to not waste a lot of your time, but I couldn't find any that attacked this paticular subject.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You should definately consider hitting F1 on the keyboard and reading the texture section or buy a book but in the meantime here's the answer more or less to your question.. after creating a shader double click it an dyou will see some paramters. Click on the checkerbox next to color and you will be presented with some options. Choose a file texture and then use it's file browser to get your image.

I don't see an option for "file texture." Also, I did look into the F1 help menu, and didn't see any help options specific for Texturing. Can you break it down to idiot terms for me? Sorry for the hassle.

Actually I think it's under rendering or shading in the eletronic help depending on which version of Maya you have.

When you click on the checkerbox you will get a list of various nodes you can use.. you want 2d texture node:file
