I finally have more free time now to enter one of these HMC's and hopefully finish it. I'll be modeling Wedge. The concept was created by Matt Waggle (FirstManOnMars).

Here's Matt's concept

And here's a front face sketch I did based on Matt's concept to make it easier for me to model.

Here's what I have so far.

farazmobin - Thanks! I'm sure Matt would also be happy to hear that!

I decided to take the head into ZBrush to quickly detail some of the stuff out to give me a better idea of how he might look like towards the end. Matt said he's going to finish up the concept later tonight or so. I just don't want to go too far ahead until seeing the final concept.

I loved that concept of Wedge as a WWI/II fighter pilot.

Face looks great. Are you leaving it in ZBrush at this point or exporting it back out?

WyattHarris - I plan on exporting it back to Maya at the second subdivision level to better adjust the rest of his head gear and body to the altered proportions. I essentially want to model all the parts seperate and bring it into zbrush and resurface everything to make it easier to rig in the end.

Here's a slight update. I took the head back into Maya and started modeling some of the head accessories.

Here's another quick update. I started working on the thing around the face (can't think of what it's called at the moment).

Looking great! I will flesh out the chest piece and see what else I might add. Let me know if there's anything I can help with (redraws, etc.)

Matthew - I'm glad you are liking it so far. If possible, do you think I could get a back view of the character? Thanks!

absolutely. I'll get it drawn and scanned by Saturday afternoon. I have Monday off so I got some bonus free time too.

Hey, didn't have a lot of time today, drew this on the bus. Hope it helps! cant wait to see more.

I drew through on the lower belts, feel free to redesign anything.. also if you need a particular piece, like the belts or pistol. I will get on it. Watching city of lost children and working on the chest piece now.
