Looking for a Maya Bandsaw...

I'm sure Ive heard about an sort of auto-cut-function right in maya.

Where you start cutting, and let maya cut all around.

Just cannot remember it.

I could be wrong but my memory isn't that bad I think.

i belive that in maya is called the cut poly tool right?

i use this script

i got it off highend i belive. you select a edge, and execute it cuts all edges down the center, its really fast. in xsi though there tool is much more option oriented. you can tell it how many splits you can adjust the splits. ahh...

try the edge loop split or the multi loop split that comes with MJ Poly tools which can also be downloaded at the link above

What's the Bandsaw tool do? :p (What's up with all these wacky LW tool names :p)

There's a plug in called Draw Split, where you can just draw over your models and it cuts where you've drawn over. (Comes with the AW Bonus Games Plugins) It's sometimes unstable though, in the Maya 4.0 and 4.5 versions :o

otherwise, as oatmeal mentioned, MJPolyTools can split edgeloops for you!

you want the face path split commnd, available in bonus games plug-in from AW's site (maya 4.5) not sure about version 5

You can select where this cut or cuts should be by using a gui and saying for example ... I want three cuts, one at % 25, one at % 50, and one at % 75 withing that band
