Title: Mermaid Waiting
Name: Vinnie Tartamella
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop
I thought I'd start posting some more work up here. I've been a little busy, but I thought I should post this mermaid piece. I originally made this for a friend and entered it as a piece in a contest as well, but I went a little further when I was done and I just did a different version for fans. I went for softer colors to capture the beauty of this character and to make it a little different from my other works. All made on photoshop and this is an original piece of art. I hope you guys enjoy it too.

putting the tag on there is really tacky.

Clodhopper, I find your comment tacky. You can do whatever the hell you want with your art, but I put the tag/watermark because I've had art stolen. Thanks anyway.

Cgtalk already water marks everything that gets posted and so its copyrighted and protected....and then you added your name and website; Your image is now triple tagged.
Are you just trying to shamelessly plug your own website?
There are hundred of thousands of images on this site and only a few novices who are naive enough to have to "protect" their images with unprofessional and unsightly web addresses.
if you have your art stolen for profit, I recommend suing. If you have it stolen without profit, I recommend reporting it here on Cgtalk; Artists love bashing and exiling thieves....plus you will get all the more attention because of it, in fact; I wish people would unlawfully try to steal my art.
so yea, its tacky and naive to think you need to protect every image you post on a major forum like this.
Also, If you really take your art that seriously, you should really consider registering your own domain name without the "DeviantArt" in it. Its a lot more professional, and it doesn't cost very much.

I don't know what your hang up is on me and my work. You showed me how unprofessional you are by making the comment you did, so I responded back in the same manner. I have and do work with large companies and I chose to watermark my images (on the image and not just at the bottom of a page that people could crop off and post elsewhere claiming it as their own) this isn't because I feel other artists on Cg talk will take it, its for the others that just past by to look or take other's art and post them elsewhere etc. without artist permission.
If watermarking was against CGtalk, then I wouldn't have done it here. Simple as that. Why do artist always want to attack to each other on public forums? It's ridiculous and only comes down to you trying to prove your own point on your own personal view( that you don't like watermarks) But once again like I said already, do what you want with your art, and I'll do what I want with mine. Why can't you respect that? This is just another site that anyone can and does have the right to put up whatever art they want (watermarks or not) and create little portfolios on. And once again I appreciate your concerns with what I do with my art and career.
Thanks.

if you choose to interpret it that way, that's your prerogative.
I'm not attacking anything. It's called "constructive criticism" and not "complacent compliments"
Well if you really can't take anything but raving compliments, then I recommend posting somewhere else...like your mom's refrigerator door.

I'll post where I want too. I'm not the only person who watermarks. I have been on here for years and seen both.
Plus pros are on Deviant art too. :)
And Dude, I'm done with this, its really childish. There's nothing constructive about it, you don't want to see watermarks, I got it. If you don't like it just view someone else's work.
Cute comment btw.
