View Full Version : HMC #17 - Star Wars SteamPunk - General Kenobi
SantoAnderson 10-01-2008, 07:21 PM Here's my WIP thread for the Steampunk Star Wars challenge. I'm wanting to do Kenobi in Trooper garb.
FYI: It's a "lightning" saber.

Okay, Wacom tablets are good for filling, but not that great for sketching, at least for me. So I spent this afternoon making a better concept, personally. I'm kind of taking off on the Obi-wan character when he's wearing clone trooper armor, during the clone wars. The colors of the initial drawing will closely resemble the final color scheme, so it isn't a total waste.

So, basically, I'm designing for two different types of characters: Jedi and Trooper. Meh, it'll be fun, and I figured nobody else would pick the same topic.
EDIT:
Here's an example of Obi in Trooper Garb:

Great idea, I never noticed how much Boba Fett's mandalorian armor resembles a boiler until I saw your concept. This'll be great.

Were the stitch done with a stencil or stamp?
How easy is it to do fabric in zbrush?

Zbrush has some built-in stitching alphas. But I decided to create my own with a different design. It's essentially a home-made alpha using the dot tool.

Working on the torso, blocking for now. Ready for Zbrush. Second image is a color test, and fixes all the one sided geometry that Zbrush imported, that I'm too lazy to fix right now.

good progress,
but maybe get everything modeled before moving onto zbrush?
I'm still kind of old fashioned that some things just gotta be modeled
the old way. Zbrush still has great potential to adjust them some to
your needs. I think this workflow is too confusing :argh:
just my 2 cents, or 4, or 10 or 50 cent :banghead:
never understood that saying.

On a typical challenge I'd do everything to a more organized workflow, but Pixologic finally released ZB3 for Mac and I've been needing to practice as much as possible. So yea, I guess you could say this is my "Zbrush" entry. If I can get it finished that is. I lost my job and am currently starting a business, which is requiring 25 hours a day of my attention. This is quickly turning into a weekend entry. I'll try and have an update ready before November.
