View Full Version : Morph Targets: Any other way?
Corth 06-07-2003, 06:00 PM Reading through the tutorial on this in max5, it's telling me to make a copy of the object for as many of the morph's I'll need. Is there any simpler way of doing this? I like the K.I.S. approach (keep it simple) is there anyway I can do the morphing with just the one head in the file?
I've been thinking of exporting the morph's that I want, then importing them into one file, then applying the morph modifyer, if that'll work I might go that route (if it'll work).
Can anyone enlighten me? If you want to see the model I'm morphing, you can visit my www link, it's in the art->3D section.

hello.
in fact, morpher targets are not that complicated at all.
(I guess, you know it's ok to delete the morpher targets afterward- you don't have to keep all of them in the scene)
it's pretty much straight forward. very simple, but just a bit of time consuming depending on how many expressions you want.
or I think , you can use bones too.
but when think about the result, morphing is not that much of pain at all.
the first morph I did took me 3~4 days. I felt so sick of it. :)
but, the result was sweet.

Ahhh, Thank you neversong! I actually didn't know you could delete them afterwards... I'll have to re-read the tut to see if it says that, because I don't remember reading that at all
Heres a nice option if you're up for the setup time
A thread in the Character Rigging section about facial animation setups... (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20832)
yeah i hate morph targets. No patence for them i guess.

Here is another tutorial on Morph targets.
Might be of use.

BTW if you go back to the trans.voila homepage you can find all kind of cool (and free) Max stuff.
