Photokina is the world's largest trade show for the photographic and imaging industries. It's held in September every 2 years in Cologne, Germany.

German Television 3sat have just reported from Photokina 2008 on CGI.

thx for the link, 3sat is one of my favourite channels!
I loved that last picture with the twisted stairs.
Also nice to see the SpheroCam HDR in action, wish I had one of these...

Photokina was great. However the CG parlor was a bit behind my expectation. Sure, there were some good vendors, but I missed the feeling of more specific fairs like FMX in Stuttgart and DCD in Karlsruhe. The CGI exhibit parlor also was very disapointing with over 80 % of the exhibits being heavily retouched stills of Car Visualization.

Anyway, if you are interested in optical and photographic developements then Photokina is the place for you to be next year. If you are interested in CG better start putting back money for Siggraph ;)

Adobe showed off their new Photoshop CS4 at this years Photokina too - the 3D stuff looked interesting - they also claim there is a new 3d Raytracer built into it's extended version...
