When using Mental Ray, checking Output to Subdirectories doesn't actually create any directories, which results in the passes not being saved. :surprised

Is there some fix for this or a script to automatically create the directories based on settings in Render Global Settings > Render Layer/Pass Control?

Erm, that's for Maya 4.5--I'm using Maya 5.

Anyway, I e-mailed the guy, and he said he'll try to update it over the weekend. Everyone else e-mail him to let him know it's important!

I guess we'll have to wait until A/w fixes this and other small but annoying bugs and integration issues with MR.

A/w really needs to work on Render Layers--it's horrible (too limited). Most other programs let you render any pass you can dream of without manually doing it all.

oi oi lads:

just got this email:

Yep, freshly uploaded just now:

I've compiled it, but haven't tested it with Maya 5.0 beyond seeing that
it runs, so let me know if there are any problems.

I love the plugin, but im not sure what mel commands would let me render a specular pass.

I understand the others shadow, beauty etc. As they can be done thru assigning relevant shaders, but what about specularity pass.

I figure ill have to turn of emit diffuse from all my lights and just leave on emit specular. What a pain :(.
