We are especially looking for people with low poly modeling experience. Our next projects are RTS type games with fantasy, modern world, and SF themes.
If you are interested please email your URL at: jobs@liquid.to or mail your reel (CD, tape, printouts) to:

I understand how you would like to have people with past experience, but i betcha that a lot of people on here that do amazing work have never worked for a professional CG company.
Hey, we gotta start somewhere!?
If everyone only hires people with experience, then where do you want us to go to get that experience :)

usually if a company cant afford to train artists, or if a company is on a tight schedule...might not want to have artists just learning while being there and being paid for it. so they ask for people who have experience that can just sit infront of a computer and can whip out work with minimal hassle.
an intern = 1 computer+ software license costs, etc.

Just to give you guys some hope, SCEA hired me without any game or work experience in the field, if you're good, they will get you. What was cool was, they even got me a VISA so i could work in the US, ( I'm Canadian)
BTW i'm also 21, so even youngins can get in.

Never give up. Never surrender!
I was one of the animation directors for Kaena : The Prophecy. Let me tell you, I hired a few "fresh" out of school grads to work on the film. Aside from their student reel, they had no prior experience. And the team I worked with kicked ass! Ask Pascal; he was a lead animator.
I hate companies who won't look at your reel because you don't have 'experience' in that genre or don't know the software! That's BS. NO, it's worse. IT'S RETARDED.
To all you artists out there, if you are talented (not a hack), you'll get work. So don't let "no experience need not apply" crap get in your way.
Good Luck.
Fledge - what position do you work at SCEA ?
My friend awhile back was interested in a position at SCEA, is there still an information site up for hiring for scea?
Thanks.

I think I have to take ambient whisper's side on this topic. In reviewing reels I have seen alot of talent from people just coming from outside of school...but that hire really wasn't my call... I can empathize with a company that is on a tight budget and cannot afford the time needed to train new artists...
Even the experienced artists take some time to get up to speed, but less time than that of a newbie or intern. For the management involed it all comes down to peace of mind, especially when every new hire is always a risk.
I am all for fresh blood breaking into the industry, it is how I got my start...and if your work sells itself, then you will land somewhere.
Good luck to all you fresh faces out there in your employment search.

just to give you some hope. i am 19 and was hired by a 3d animation house directly after i left school to work on a project for lego. I had no experience or even a degree. but i had many years of practise using software at home. if you have enough talent and persiverence you can do it.

Isn't this experience enouph? Jeez, I'm making the stuff.
If this is a game model, what is required that I'm not already doing?.........I've seen worse.
Actually, I know potentially better stuff can be made:

The Planted Feet seem a little rigid, but overall the animations seem dynamic........somebody else's work, not mine.

HAHAHAH maybe they should hire someone to make them a website that doesn't totally blow. I never did understand how all these game companies that make all these crazy games have the dumbest websites.

As you can see in my previous posting I didn't explain what kind of experience we want, so if you fill you HAVE experience (whatever experience it is) send in your reels, we'll be happy to check them out. We are getting a lot of people who have no experience in an 3D package and who can't even draw, and that's a problem because regardless of their potential skills we can't find the time or the ressources to train them. This is why we require some basic knowledge of the tools and the production process.
So once again, if you feel you are experienced enough don't hesitate to send something. We are starting work on a new RTS game based on one of the best license ever. I can't say more, pending to an official announcement from our publisher, but be assurred that it's one in a lifetime chance to be part of something really big (maybe even bigger than Star Wars ;) ). If you want to be part of a small dedicated team and want to create the best art you have ever seen we'd be glad to talk to you.
You can find more information about Liquid previous game Battle Realms at www.battlerealms.com and on some various websites like gamespot or IGN. You can also download a playable demo and judge for yourself the art and the game design.

WTF??? How can you say that?? battle realms is the most innovative rts game of the pc games history... no one that played battle realms can say that, obviously you lack any graphic sense in that brain..
If you go to graphics battle realms beats any RTS even warcraft III..
As for the developer team they all put their hearts in what they are doing, that is what BR is a jewel of a game..
Are you sure you know anything about CG???

Yes we can hire people from outside the US (we have employees from Germany and France - including me ;) ), but because it makes things more difficult and more costly for the company, the technical and artistic skill level needs to be higher than for a local artist.

I have tried to get into the industry and I really wanted to become a 3D animator but I just got a job that will teach me everything that there is to know about computer networks.
I am still going to get into the industry though. I just need a field to fall back into if everything just doesnt work out for me.
I am more of a sketch artist that wants to perfect his 2D skills and most of the colleges around here give a 25th thought to any kind of real art program. I need to get into a real art school and get a diploma from some place that matters and will impress my employers. I have already been accepted to one of the most accredited colleges in the US but I cant afford it.. This is where I find the problem that I have...

Don't be so sure that will impress employers. Your portfolio/reel will be much more important.
