I think you could possibly add a bit more detail, without losing the painterly, atmospheric quality it has. I would also like to see the poles that the scarecrow is mounted to as some other color...possibly a really de-saturated brown/black. That may be more of a personal preference though.

This is cool start. I hope you plan on working on it some more.
It need something to really make it pop.
Maybe more lights on face or some detail and contrast in a few select areas.
