View Full Version : Max 5: Texture Bake...oddly shaded faces

Hey all, I'm having a serious issue with the "render to texture" feature in max5. I lit my model and used render to texture to create a shaded map to use as a base for my texture, but oddly I am getting some faces that are not shaded correctly. The model is triangulated, so you can see in the below pic the tri's that I am having problems with. I am starting to think it has something to do with the fact that I overlapped certain sections of the UV's over top of each other to save space on the map. For example, the arms, hands and boots were overlapped so that I wouldn't have to paint them twice and so I could save space in the map.

Has anyone else run into this problem? If so, what can I do to avoid it? This is really bugging me because the normals are all smoothed and I really don't see any reason for this at all.
