Green Lantern for future cinematic

Use his Justice League Unlimited cicra 2001 outfit and kinda beefed it up.
Hair and Beard are all Sasquatch for volume and softness.
Still tweaking and changing things and have to model his ring and lantern, and maybe some FX.

Haven't done anything "kool" in a while and proud of myself focusing my freetime, sharing it with a 2 year old and one on the way. :D

sweet..he was one of my fave heroes back when I was a kid.

throw him into some greenish effects and it would look nice.

Thanks KoryH, long time no see.
I appreciate the mockup, glad to see you still got the "touch".
Anything new on the personal project agenda?

I thought at first to do a timm style but then this project is a certain goal of adding that game cinematic flavoe I want to test some skills on particularily some zbrushing, some post production effects. The severly postponed Shazam project that I started years ago, i want to produced in its entirely and is just to long winded. Now with certain and clearer expectation level, this thing allows me to do a scene qand be finished with at the same tiem ...hopefully pushed the envelope.

I'll add some images and I hope other folks post their stuff seems lately this forum has become all tech support and not the "hey look what i am doing" it used to be. Maybe I am just getting old(er).

Preliminary Rigging

Using the old .mdd pipeline instead of messiahLW.p and
with PointOven ... it refreshes as you scrub so no fuss, no mess

Hi Julez,

The Body Pose is a bit stiff right now and the Hands Pose need a bit of work too.

Maybe try to straighten him up a bit with the Chest forward to give it more an heroic Pose, like you have on the drawings.

Nice Shading but you could get more of it by adding a Scenario an not a fade background, right now we cant tell if he is Flying or on Land.

Awesome job and pretty impressive :thumbsup:

Just a couple of points.

1. The feet seem a tad small for his stature
2. The torso seems a bit long. When standing his hands should be around the middle of the thigh when the arms are at rest.

Other than that nice work and keep it up!

People maybe would post more if they didn't know they would get either no comments at all and feel like a goof for posting or a bunch of "looks great, but" comments.

Funny thing is, the people that usually give the second type of comment don't have much to show of their own work and are probably not doing much themselves...if they were, they would appreciate the work it takes to get something finished in your spare time...Kudos for showing your finished work it looks great imo.

I understand your point, but I really would like to return the CGTalk to more of a special projects or WIP forum. I know folks are busy, heck I'm busy but even if folks had experiments or new tests would be a change of the regular pace.

When starting to build the guy, i wanted the emblem to be floating, maybe sparking out pulses of light like a cop car's siren but everything being so flat was not interesting, so thats where i went into the "sturdy" suit.

ompositing into a likely environment. Space. And not just that but an asteriod field.

Okay doing a basic flying animation, and putting some of the associated things a GL has on him.

I have a animated aura field and ring flares and such but I need to get the field to lag behind and I would like to do it post, bu tit may call for something inside of Lightwave.

Nice work and interesting thread to watch! I also wish that more LW folk would post
their WIPs like they used to. Every time I view the fellow I'm seeing some proportions that are distracting and I think I found one element you could mod to make him seem moremasculine or proper. I think the length of the hips is a bit long and tends to add an effeminate look to him. I took the liberty of doing a quick edit to your dude to show what I thought you could do to help him out of the girly world and back into macho-man territory.
I'm also seeing the forearms looking a bit too much like chicken drumsticks due to the rather too thin elbow joint, and the knees look a little narrow as well. Perhaps that's just a stylistic choice?
Anyway check it out.
