i am trying to animate a hotwheels set. the track has several loops in both the x and the y axis. i am trying to get the cars to move along a motion path without flipping through the surface of the track and i want to keep them from penetrating the surface of the track. tall order.
i am currently trying constraints.
i have locator 1 on a motion path.
locator 2 is geo constrained to a curve and is connected to the translate and rotate of locator 1 by direct connection (connection editor)
locator 3 is point constrained by both locators so it stays in the center. it is normal constrained to track so it always stays inside of the track.
i thought to just group the car with locator 3 but it spins at just the wrong moments. it does not flip through the track but it spins on the track surface.
any ideas on a rig for this kind of set up? how can i get the car not to flip through the geometery and follow a path.?
