Title: The Little Mermaid
Name: Des Hanley
Country: United Kingdom
Software: Photoshop

A CHOW (character of the week) over at Conceptart.org.

A double character Mermaid/Maid

This is the Maid version - see my portfolio for the Mermaid version.

"She has no tongue and every step is like walking on knives - she is rejected by her Prince", there's obviously more to the story than that but that was a few elements which lead to her creation.

I wanted her to remain 'fishy' (a mermaid 'shaped' into a human, rather than turned into a human)
Even though she's crying I wanted her cold and emotionless.

All done in Photoshop CS

I like the concept of her retaining her fishiness in her human form. It would've looked cool if she had retained the fingerwebbing and had webbed toes as well.
