'ello all!

I'm in the process of evaluating Max 4.2, all seems to be going quite well.

Now I'm onto adding a skin to my skelton and setting up the bone
influence/vertex weights?..

are there anymore/better tutorials on this? (other than those included with the trial CD pack).

Any info on this would be appreciated! :) (typical work-flow examples?)

Thanks,

J3!

Ps. If possible, only Max 4.2 info (unless character studio is a must?)

I have been meaning to write one, since it's been so widely requested... and I'm in the process of starting it, but it could take a little while to upload. As for Kim's, I haven't read the book, but he's a great artist and chap. I'm sure he did a great job on that one...

Hey,

Thanks for the replies! I'll have to try and get hold of that book!

Toonman; Look forward to the tutorial!

Just wondering, with regards to vertex 'weights', is it possible to
view the amount of influence each bone has on an individual vertex?
How about changing the influence on a vertex by vertex basis?

Thanks again,

J3!

You should check out the scripts at www.comet-cartoons.com

Yes, that is possible, it's right there in the skin modifier.
I have no time for taking screenshots right now, but read about the skin modifier in the online manual and youl get there in five minutes.

Knut; Found it, thanks! Seems a little limited in display? Only able
to display one value at a time? I was looking for more of a 'table'
display of 'vertex weights to bone assign '.

Still, new software, new working methods I guess! :)

Iain; Thanks, that script it closer to what I was looking for!

I've been used to the weight assign dialogue in Softimage, just
looking for something like it in Max! (Can't teach old dog, new tricks, and all that! ;) ).

Thanks again!
