CGTalk - Drivers for vista?

Ive installed my 3ds max on my new laptop which runs vista home premium operating system. When i try and open 3ds max it comes up with an error message saying "3ds max application has stopped working......etc etc" and doesn't run. Is this because i need updated drivers to run it on vista? Any help gratefully appreciated, thanks.

I know it has been a while since you posted this, but I came across this, and the answer is simple. When opening 3ds Max, right click and open as administrator. It's a Vista quirk.
