There is no problem with art like this, though I'm gonna tell you that you won't get many replies with things like this. It's too abstract and a meaning isn't clear enough for people to do anything but just sit.. look... and then continue browsing through other posts.

Anyway. While I'm here, I'll say that I like it : )

I dont know why there should be abstract stuff. I think you can say as much about it as about another hero with a large gun^^.

its fresh, well the style at least the meaning is dark.

Anyway it reminds me of the intro and the atmoshpere of Eraserhead. Cool Film of Grandmaster David Lynch.

das geschenk = german for 'the gift'
gift = german for 'poison'

the picture speaks about people who need respiration to get enough air. there are several reasons for such treatment: tracheotomy because of cancer, poliomyelitis, muscular dystrophy and many others.

a respirator is a gift to those who cannot live without it. if it is not clean enough it might be poissonous and therefore it could lead to pneumonia. the gift becomes a poison.

being heavily disabled can be a gift. disabled people probably develop a distinctive psychological understanding and are often very creative. people who ain't physically retrenched may develop those capabillities, too, but there is a significantly higher chance for people who must concentrate on non-physical activities.

not being able to take part in a 'normal' working life makes it necessary to find other ways to be part of society. they write poems and short storys, maybe novells. some become philosophers, physicists (e.g. stephen hawking) and so on.

someone might consider that as a gift and i must say it is, indeed!

on the other hand, this gift often is a burden. especially when it comes to a life-threatening disability/illness.

it looks like the cradle of suffering that was given to jesus. he could have ran away to flee from the coming suffering but he has chosen to face it and to do what he was supposed to.

some disabilities are a kind of a death-sentence. it must not overwhelm the concerned person. it is a chance to live a very intensive life.
sometimes it makes one sad and depressed, sometimes it doesn't affect him/her. it is good to find a balance of darkness and light and it is quite normal that one side prevails time and again.

i hope the idea behind this wip is a bit more understandable nw. if you wanna add something or if you have a question, please add it respectively ask!

lol it's funny that you revealed your reasoning for the title -- as i went through that same process :) i remembered gift was german for poison but figured "naah he probably didn't go that far with it" but there it is..
