View Full Version : Maya animation
Russo 06-06-2003, 12:37 PM Hello
Iam having some trouble about animation in Maya, I use 2 buttons Mouse,
In Max, I can move the keys from the timeline but in Maya I can't..
I MUST enter graph editor to move the keys? It doesn't show in viewport the path of object?

well, I hope i'm understanding your issue properly. i've been known to not understand people too clearly before, so it wouldn't be the first time if I didn't quite clearly catch what you were describing.
Well, what I'm understanding is that you want to be moving keys around in the timeslider without having to go into the graph editor (or dope sheet for that matter) to do so. What you can do is hold down the shift key. Then click on the first key (linearly in the timeline) that you want to move. Don't take your finger off the shift key after clicking in the timeline. You'll see a funky little red highlight appear in the timeline with little black arrowheads pointing either direction down the timeline. while still holding down the shift key, click and drag on the right-most arrowhead down the timeline until you have encompassed the block of keys in the timeline that you want to move. Once you have dragged the red highlight area around the keys you want to move, you can let go of the shift key, and then click and drag on the black arrow heads in the middle of the red field and you'll see that you can move that selected block of keys around in the timeline to wherever you want to put them. I sure hope that makes some sense.
good luck!
