I know I was a bit slack updating my sketchbook thread, turns out it was closed 'cause I neglected it for 12months... damn was it really that long.

I'll try and do a bit better this time and start by re posting the old stuff I had up.

Thanks for checking this out.

Thought I'd post some old skool drawings seeing as I haven't been productive as of late on the drawing front. I'll start off with some of my fav comic book characters Scud and Spiderman, both drawn as they are in their comics and also as my own interpretation. The following were done back in 2002 and 2003 using good old pencil, pen, coloured pencil and some markers. -More to come-

The awesome creation that is the Violator from Todd Mc Farlane's "Spawn" comic. This is my version done back in 2002. I was quite proud of this one back in the day because this was the most detail I ever put in at the inking stage. Done with fineliner, marker and pencil.

This is a fan art piece for the Battleground website (going live soon). "What is Battleground?" I hear you say. Well it's a product I worked on with the talented Mr. Craig Bruyn (aka Redfrog) at the toy company Moose Enterprise where we work. Craig and I developed concepts, modelling specs and logo designs for all the Battleground product. Craig has a photo of some of the finished product on his speed painting thread here. Doing some fan art was very refreshing for me, drawing something for Battleground without moulding and price restraints limiting what I could create. Hope you like it.

Pencil sketch, finished in Photoshop CS2.

This was some concept work I did for the Strange Behaviour CGSociety challenge '07. Our story was based around the steampunk genre so the designs needed to look mechanical. If you would like to know more please visit the Strange Behaviour link in my signature.

This year I entered a few competitions to try and get myself drawing outside work. This was my entry into the first International Skull Designing Competition run by the Rise and Fall gallery in Melbourne, Australia.

I wanted to do something a bit weird because skulls are so overdone these days, so I made mine a bit of homage to the surrealist influences I have had. The competition was fairly free of restrictions it just had to be black and white really. This was done in biro.

This was an illustration for my cousin of her first car. She was after something cartoon-y like the cars by Terry Donovan. this was what I came up with.

It started out as a rough pencil sketch then I traced over it in Adobe Illustrator and coloured and cut back some of the line work in Adobe Photoshop.

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement alicelefay. I don't get many comments so if anyone has anything to say feel free, crits and comments welcome.I'll try and put more stuff up now I have a decent Internet connection and hopefully a bit more time.

Here is custom Munny I did for a Kidrobot competition. For those of you who haven't heard of a Munny before he's the little white fellow below. They are sold blank so that people can have a go at creating something on this curvy canvas. the material is very versatile and can be drawn, sculpted and painted on with pretty much anything. They also come with a random accessory which in my case was the pitchfork.

From the beginning I wanted to flip my Munny up-side-down as I hadn't seen that done before with a custom Munny. The demon part was pretty much dictated by the accessory I got. It may be hard to make out but I cut up Munny's head and turned them into legs making the original legs into the base of his horns. All the sculpting was done with wire and Super Sculpey. This was my first go at sculpting and i really enjoyed it, hopefully i can get a bit more sculpting project on the go in the future.

....and something else for a competition. This one was for a Spawn: Endgame (comic) comp. The brief was just to do your own interpretation of the character, so I stylised him and made it a bit more cartoony with broad shoulders and smaller legs.

Pencil sketch, coloured in Illustrator and finished in Photoshop.

BAH! I've let this thread dwindle away yet again.

Here's something to hopefully bring a little bit of life back into her. This was for a weekly sketch I did with my work crew with the subject “change”. What better way to show change than Bruce Banner transforming into the hulk. The image was never fully coloured, just some basic tones dumped into my line work with the intent of rendering it better down the track. Yeah right… I have trouble posting here every few months, that track just keeps getting longer and longer.

P.S. know I have too much comic book stuff in here… but what can I say, I love comics.
