Manta 06-06-2003, 07:52 AM Hi LWavers,
I posted this question in the hardware forum but I have a lot of doubts.
Which input device are you using with your 3D software?

I'm useing a mouse mainly....
I'm try to teach myself to use my Wacom but its slow going....
Its like running with crutches on but I want to learn to use the pen as well as I use the mouse.
I see lots of advantages useing a pen but my higher screen rez(1600X1200) makes presision difficult and clumsy.

A mouse.
Tablets are reserved for painting and drawing :)
And I haven't actually "got into" modelling and animating with a tablet...

Which model of mouse are you using?
My optical wheel mouse is broken and I'm thinking to buy another one or a trackball.
Anyone knows which devices are used in medium-big studios?

I dont think theres a standard as far as mice go...
You could probrably walk into any studio and find all sorts of mice.
The mouse is far to personal asset to generalize it.
Try one,if you dont like it buy another til you do find one you like.
Trial and error is the key on such a personal level.

Tablet. I use the tablet for everything except gaming. It's _so_ much faster than using a mouse. IMHO of course :)

Logitech Optical Cordless Mouseman...the standard, one of the first cordless ánd optical mice, but it works perfectly ;)
the only disadvantage is that it munches batteries like crazy :p
I'd recommend you the Logitech MX700 or 900, that's one with a 'docking' station, which reloads the mouse when it's not in use

3button logitech mouse (no scroll wheel, not optical). Just a cheap one with wire ;)
Hmmm, I never tried modeling with a Tablet - Pen...I don't think it works better than a mouse.
But I thought about a trackball (marble man or so).

Trackball.
I'm thinking about upgrading to a Kensington wireless trackball, with programmable buttons, quick launch buttons for applications and wheel :buttrock:
