hi everyone!

i am in a very creative mood, and that is exactly when i realize, that my poor c4d skills could use a little refurbishment :)

ok, here's what i would like to achive:

http://www.maxon.net/pages/dyn_files/dyn_htx/htx/1165/01165_01165_3_l.jpg

focus on the "wormholes" in the background. although it seems like some kind of metaball strategy, the hoses are too "thin" for a classic metaball. what i would like to achive is such "wormholes" , however on all adjacent "bumps". that would mean: close vis-a-vis bumps tend to wormhole. is there something like an "advanced metaball" out there that could do something like this?

ps: the result will be no animation but a still.

thanx for reading

What you need is called HyperNURBS. Do a search on that in the online help.

Metaballs could work depending on the mesh.
It would take lots of tweaking, imho.

ok, here comes the trouble, your examples look perfectly right BUT - i need c4d to "connect" between the bumps automatically. your setups are tweaked manually, right?

Here's a metaball effect that is mostly procedural:

http://www.bmc.med.utoronto.ca/wiki/metaglop.mov

There are two point clouds, both inside a metaball object. One has a metaball tag with a large radius, the other has a metaball tag with a smaller radius and "negative influence" checked. This allows you to create all sorts of interesting effects.

Marcus, for your effect, you could position the camera inside a metaball shape, and then animate point objects or splines to intersect that shape. These objects would also be children of the metaball, and could have the "negative influence" enabled to create smoothly integrated channels within the the metaball volume...

Best,

Nick

All I did was weld some points between the upper and lower plane.
