So far so good. Reminds me of Skelators sword on the new He-man cartoon. Can't wait to see an update

The handle looks very nice so far,
but the blade needs a lot of work

Beautiful design!
The blade doesn't look right, with the materials.

I'd like to see the handle just like the bony Ivory material.

Thanks guys! The sword does not have any materials on it yet except the unfinished bumpmap on the handle.

Otos what do you mean by the blade needs a lot of work?

Small update, I worked some more on the textures and the bump maps. The environment map for the metal is just a standin.I thickened up the blade so it does not look so weak.

Lookin good Phil. The blade did look a tad paper thin in the first few renders. It may help if there was something refflected on the metals the look alittle phongish and flat.

Nice work so far. My only comment (as an enthusiast and owner of several edged weapons) is that the proportion of blade and hilt are off. If this is a sword, then that would be like a two and a half hand hilt, which is pretty good size.

My two suggestions . . .
1) Thicken the hilt and call it a dagger.
2) Make the blade maybe 150% of its length now, and keep it a sword.

Keep it up!

Thanks for the feed back.

The hilt/handle is 1/2 the size of the blade, two reasons for this. The female from my project is going to be wearing this sword on her back and if the blade is any longer she will not be able to draw the sword and if the handle is any shorter then both of her hands will not fit on the handle at the same time. Although the swords overall length is the same proportional wise as the real sword accept the handle is 3 inches longer to accommodate both hands. (The real one is a one handed sword) In light of these facts there is really nothing I can do about it.
