webshot 06-06-2003, 05:19 AM Does anyone know of a tutorial for modelling a basketball in 3d studio max. I found one posted here but it was not studio max. Please if anyone knows of one please post a link. In desperate need of that tut.

Here's a tip: Start with a sphere. Add a texture and a bump map and you're done!

It is the lines I need help with basically. A basketball has those grooved lines. I dont know how to do that. DO you have any idea on that?? thanks for the post

what i would do, is highlight those segments in polygon mode and then extrude them like -1 or -2

Xilia: I dont think itīs that easy because a sphere has all the poly rows ending in two points at the top and the bottom, so here the lines are going to fade in withd the more you get to the top or bottom (itīs different if you go around the equator). And with a geosphere you dont really have straight lines.
I would try a displacement map for the lines, the rest would be a noise for the diffuse.:beer:
