Hi
I'd like to present our first animated short film titled "Bugs' Race".
It was created by Ania Jurkiewicz and Andrzej Ellert (myself) as a Bachelor of Science project at Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology (www.pjwstk.edu.pl) in Warsaw, Poland.
We worked on it for over 2 years and did all the steps ourselves - starting from the idea, and the script, through 2d and 3d animatics, modelling, texturing etc. to the final animation, rendering and compositing. The only thing we didn't do is the sound effects and the music which was created by Cafe Ole sound studio in Warsaw. The sound also features a famous Polish actor Arkadiusz Jakubik as the voice of The Snail.
We can't stress it enough that it is our very first serious animation and we had to learn most of the things during this process. We finished it about 8 months ago, and since than we have learned much more, mainly in animation, so we are aware of the many shortcomings in our film. Nevertheless, we are still proud of what we have achieved - having no experience in this matter. We hope you'll enjoy the film. C&C welcome :) !

as for the technical details, we used:
mostly Autodesk Maya 8
some Zbrush for modelling
Real Flow for water simulations
After Effects for composition
Particle Illusion for smoke effects
and of course lots of Photoshop
