Hi there im trying to use simple fog that is created in the Maya render globals with Mental ray but whenever I do I can only see blackness. So I then try and use Maya's Volume Fog and this works for the most part but the fog is very faint and I can't see much volume to it.

Does anyone know of a work around for this?

There doesn't seem to be a Saturation distance with Volume Fog.

You mean fog that gets thicker as it gets further from the camera?

You can do that in Mental Ray by attaching an Mib_Volume shader into the 'Volume Shader' slot of your camera. The 'Volume Shader' slot is found in the Mental Ray section of your camera (go to View > Camera Attribute Editor).

Once you put it in there, you choose a colour for the fog, then set the Max value to the distance from the camera at which you want the fog to be solid.....I think.
